Kool Krys & DJ Ducats – CBC Ottawa Share Central 2011
Ottawa residents donated over $25,000 yesterday at CBC Ottawa’s annual holiday fundraiser Share Central in support of local homeless youth centre Operation Come Home.
It meant a lot to me to be involved in this community event and perform with Ottawa CKCU 93.1FM radio host of “Tha New Journey” DJ Ducats.
It is wonderful to witness the generosity among Ottawa residents towards supporting this important cause.
Here is a clip from my performance with DJ Ducats on CBC Radio One’s All In a Day with host Alan Neal .

The 9th annual House of PainT (HoP) festival went down this weekend under the Dunbar Bridge in Ottawa!!!
Shouts to Ottawa’s hip hop community for celebrating walls of colour painted by talented Canadian graffiti artists, DJs spinning classics (shouts to DJ Ducats) & MCs captivating the audience (shouts to Eternia) and bboys & bgirls throwing down!!!
Having grown up and acquired my love for hip hop in Ottawa I was energized by the positivity & love that was felt among HoP attendees. It is touching to see hip hop enthusiasts with a passion comparable to KRS-One teaching kids about the roots of hip hop and respect for one another. Seeing the younger generation in breakdancing circles, interacting with live art, and watching live performances with wide eyes assured me that hip hop is indeed still alive and well… and reaching youth in Canada.
Uniting under one bridge – the bridge that links Ottawa’s south to north – allows us to share a moment in time year after year. Much respect to HoP for bringing the elements of hip hop together in one place to build & strengthen our community, share the art that we all love, and connect with one another at the capital city’s biggest free hip hop jam.
Shouts to the fly ladies making stunning jewellery & empowering beauty in other women: Pica Jewellery and MAFIA Jewellery. Keep doing your thing girls…
If you attended HoP 2011 and picked up The 613 Series Vol. 1 “Connect”, peep the Kool Krys joint “Let Me Play It” on Track 10.

KOOL KRYS cracks gender wall by April Lim, Algonquin Times, April 5, 2010
“The thing about hip hop is that it doesn’t judge anybody. You always have a way in,” said Ottawa native and Algonquin grad Christina Stefanski. Stefanski’s way in was an open mic night hosted by friends in a crew called Alpha Flight. On that stage, she made a name for herself as an MC, Kool Krys, and launched herself into the supportive network of local hip hop artists in Halifax, NS.
